250 runners tried out the 1912 Olympic Marathon course
On 14 July – exactly two years before the start of the Jubilee Marathon Stockholm 1912-2012 – 250 runners participated in the test run on the 1912 Olympic Marathon course. They ran 20 km from Stockholm Olympic Stadium and then northwards to the turning point at Sollentuna Church and the memorial stone for the Olympic Marathon.

There is a great interest in the Jubilee Marathon Stockholm 1912 – 2012. 14 July – to the day two years before race day – 6,242 runners from 23 countries had registered an "expression of interest" to take part in the Jubilee Marathon.

There is a great interest in the Jubilee Marathon Stockholm 1912 – 2012. 4,483 Swedish and 810 foreign runners had registered an "expression of interest" to take part in the Jubilee Marathon Stockholm 1912–2012.
Registration to enter the Jubilee Marathon will open on 14 July 2011. The race will take place on Saturday 14 July 2012.

Test race, Wednesday 14 July 2010
This summer, preparations will begin for the Jubilee Marathon Stockholm 1912-2012.
On Wednesday 14 July, a test race will be organised on the 1912 Olympic Marathon course. We will run 20km, from the Stockholm Olympic Stadium to the turning point at Sollentuna Church, the location of the memorial stone for the 1912 Olympic Marathon.
If you happen to be in Stockholm on this day, you are welcome to come to Stockholm Olympic Stadium. We will start at 18:00.
There will be groups running the course at difference paces. You can choose the group which suits you best.

Marathon Day – the big day during the 1912 Olympic Games
Saturday the 14th July was the big day during the 1912 Olympic Games in Stockholm. Just as in London 1908 and Athens 1906, it was the marathon which captured the public’s interest.
For the organisers who prepared for this race for over two years, the weather was the worst imaginable, blue sky, sun and more than 30 degrees in the shade.

By April 6, 4,186 Swedish and 612 foreign runners had registered an "expression of interest" to take part in the Jubilee Marathon Stockholm 1912–2012.
Registration for the Jubilee Marathon will open on 14 July 2011.

By December 12, 3,191 Swedish and 542 foreign runners had registered an "expression of interest" to take part in the Jubilee Marathon Stockholm 1912–2012.

A Tour of the 1912 Olympic Course
Work on the Jubilee Marathon Stockholm 1912–2012 began in earnest in November 2009 when a group from the Stockholm Marathon office together with several other relevant individuals studied the proposed course.
At the Jubilee race on 14 July 2012, the course – exactly like the Olympic course one hundred years earlier – will be 40,200 metres. Then an extra stretch will be added at the end to reach the distance of 42,195 metres which is today the official marathon distance.

Stockholm celebrates the 1912 Olympics
The 100th anniversary of the 1912 Summer Olympics is a high priority of the City Council ”It will be celebrated in numerous ways”, promises Inger Bavner, Head of the Stockholm Leisure. The anniversary is supported by the City Council, the Swedish Olympic Committee, the Swedish Athletic Association, the Swedish Sports Confederation, and the Stockholm Sports Confederation.

Coffee and tea at the 1912 drink stations
The historian Ake Jonsson studies the 1912 Olympics. He is writing a book in the subject, to be released by the 100th anniversary. Jonsson has not dwelled in the marathon race yet, but he found out a remarkable note concerning the drink stations along the course:
“During the race they served coffee, tea, water plus lemon and orange slices”, tells Jonsson.

Three years to go – 2,000 have registered
14 July, exactly three years to the Jubilee Marathon Stockholm 1912 – 2012, 1.988 runners have registered an “expression of interest” for the race.
In September the organising clubs Hässelby and Spårvägen will start detailed planning for the 2012 Jubilee Marathon. One of the first tasks will be to decide a route, which will follow as closely as possible the route of the 1912 Olympic race.
In 1912 the distance was 40,200 metres. Today the official marathon distance is 42,195 metres. In 2012 official times will be recorded both at 40,200 and 42,195 metres.
